⏱️ Total Time: 25–30 minutes

🍽️ Serves: 6–8 people

🌟 Perfect for: holiday appetizers, party snacks, or cozy nights

Ingredients

🥖 For the Bread:

  • 1 round sourdough loaf (about 8–10 inches wide)
  • 1 small wheel of brie cheese (8 oz / 225 g), rind on or off, sliced
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce (homemade or store-bought)

🧄 For the Garlic Herb Butter:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried thyme)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp honey or maple syrup for a hint of sweetness

Instructions

🔹 Step 1: Preheat

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

🔹 Step 2: Prepare the Bread

  1. Place the sourdough loaf on a cutting board.
  2. Using a sharp bread knife, cut the loaf into 1-inch-wide diagonal slices, being careful not to cut all the way through (stop about ½ inch from the bottom).
  3. Turn the loaf 90° and make the same diagonal cuts in the other direction, forming a crosshatch pattern — like a pull-apart grid.

🔹 Step 3: Make the Garlic Herb Butter

  1. In a small bowl, mix together:
    • Melted butter
    • Minced garlic
    • Parsley, thyme, salt, pepper (and honey/maple syrup if using).

🔹 Step 4: Stuff the Bread

  1. Gently separate the bread cubes slightly.
  2. Drizzle or brush the garlic herb butter evenly into all the cracks, making sure it soaks in.
  3. Tuck slices of brie into the gaps throughout the bread.
  4. Spoon cranberry sauce between the slices as evenly as possible.

🔹 Step 5: Bake

  1. Wrap the loaf loosely with foil and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil.
  3. Continue baking 5–10 more minutes, until the cheese is melted and the top is golden and crisp.

🔹 Step 6: Serve

  • Serve warm, right from the foil or on a wooden board.
  • Pull apart pieces to enjoy gooey brie, tart cranberry, and garlicky butter in every bite.

💡 Tips & Variations

  • Add crunch: Sprinkle chopped toasted pecans or walnuts on top after baking.
  • Make it savory: Swap cranberry for caramelized onions or sun-dried tomatoes.
  • Use other cheese: Camembert or fontina melt beautifully too.
  • Reheat: Wrap in foil and warm at 325°F (160°C) for 10 minutes.
