Cheesy Texas Toast


🧀 Cheesy Texas Toast (Homemade)

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf thick-sliced Texas toast bread (or thick-cut white bread)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced (or 1–2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or parmesan (optional mix)
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

1. Make the garlic butter

In a small bowl, mix together:

  • softened butter
  • minced garlic (or garlic powder)
  • pinch of salt
  • parsley (optional)

2. Prepare the toast

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
  • Spread a generous layer of garlic butter on each slice of bread.

3. Add the cheese

Top each slice with:

  • a thick layer of mozzarella
  • optional cheddar or parmesan for extra flavor

4. Bake

Place the tray in the oven and bake for 8–12 minutes, until:

  • the cheese is melted and bubbly
  • the edges are golden

For extra browning, switch to broil for 1 minute at the end.

5. Serve

Enjoy hot with:

  • pasta
  • soup
  • steak
  • or as an appetizer with marinara dipping sauce!
