Ginger Water

Ginger Water (Simple & Healthy Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 1–2 tablespoons fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced (or grated for stronger flavor)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) water
  • 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the ginger

  • Rinse and peel the ginger root.
  • Slice it thinly to maximize flavor extraction (or grate it for a more intense ginger infusion).

2. Boil

  • Add the water and ginger slices to a pot.
  • Bring to a gentle boil.

3. Simmer

  • Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes.
    • For stronger ginger water, simmer up to 20 minutes.

4. Strain

  • Remove from heat and strain out the ginger pieces.

5. Flavor (optional)

  • Add lemon juice for brightness.
  • Add honey if you’d like a natural sweetness (do this when the water is warm, not boiling).

6. Serve

  • Drink warm, or chill and serve over ice.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 24–48 hours.

How to Use Ginger Water Safely

  • Drink 1–2 cups per day.
  • If you have conditions such as gallstones, reflux, bleeding disorders, or take blood-thinning medications, consult your doctor before consuming large amounts of ginger.
