🍲 Hamburger and Potato Casserole —
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3–4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small onion, diced (optional but recommended)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Optional: paprika or parsley for topping
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9 or 9×13 baking dish.
2. Cook the Ground Beef
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef.
- Add salt, pepper, and onion (if using).
- Cook until browned, then drain excess fat.
3. Prepare the Sauce
In a bowl, mix together:
- Cream of mushroom (or chicken) soup
- Milk
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- A little more salt & pepper
Whisk until smooth.
4. Layer the Casserole
In the baking dish:
- Add a layer of thin potato slices.
- Spread half of the cooked beef on top.
- Pour half of the sauce over the beef.
- Repeat with:
- another layer of potatoes
- remaining beef
- remaining sauce
Cover with foil.
5. Bake
- Bake 1 hour covered.
- Remove foil, sprinkle all the cheddar cheese on top, and bake for 20–25 more minutes until:
✔ potatoes are tender
✔ cheese is melted and bubbly
6. Serve
- Let it rest 5 minutes before cutting.
- Serve warm — cheesy, creamy, and hearty!
