🍩 CINNAMON SUGAR DONUT MUFFINS
Fluffy vanilla muffins dipped in melted butter and rolled in warm cinnamon sugar.
📝 INGREDIENTS
For the Muffins
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional but traditional for donut flavor)
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup milk
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1–2 tsp ground cinnamon (to taste)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
🍳 INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat your oven
- Heat to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a muffin tin with liners or grease well.
2. Mix the dry ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together:
- flour
- sugar
- baking powder
- salt
- nutmeg
3. Mix the wet ingredients
In another bowl, whisk:
- egg
- milk
- melted butter
- vanilla
4. Combine
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry.
- Stir gently until just combined — don’t overmix.
5. Fill & bake
- Divide the batter into the muffin pan (about 12 muffins).
- Bake 15–18 minutes, until the tops are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let muffins cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a rack.
6. Make the cinnamon sugar coating
- Mix the sugar + cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Melt the butter in another bowl.
7. Dip & roll
- Dip the warm muffin tops in melted butter.
- Roll or sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.
(For extra sweetness or crunch, coat the entire muffin.)
🌟 OPTIONAL VARIATIONS
- Filled donut muffins: Add a spoonful of jam inside before baking.
- Chocolate version: Add ½ cup mini chocolate chips.
- Brown butter: Replace melted butter with brown butter for richer flavor.
- Mini donut muffins: Bake in a mini muffin pan for 10–11 minutes.
