Taco Pizza

Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 1 (13.8 oz / 390 g) can refrigerated pizza dough
(or 1 ball homemade pizza dough — about 12–14″ size)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Taco Sauce Base:

  • 1 (8 oz / 225 g) can refried beans
  • ¼ cup taco sauce or salsa
  • 2 tbsp sour cream (optional for creamier base)

For the Topping:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or ground turkey or chicken)
  • 1 packet (1 oz / 28 g) taco seasoning mix (or 2½ tbsp homemade)
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

For the Fresh Toppings (after baking):

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions
  • Sour cream, salsa, or guacamole for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
    • Preheat to 425°F (220°C).
    • Lightly grease a large baking sheet or pizza pan.
  2. Cook the Taco Meat
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and crumbly (about 5–7 minutes).
    • Drain excess grease.
    • Stir in taco seasoning and water, simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened.
    • Remove from heat.
  3. Prepare the Sauce Base
    • In a small bowl, stir together refried beans, taco sauce (or salsa), and sour cream until smooth.
    • This will be your pizza “sauce.”
  4. Assemble the Pizza
    • Roll out the pizza dough onto the prepared pan.
    • Brush lightly with olive oil.
    • Spread the bean-taco sauce mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small crust border.
    • Add the cooked taco meat evenly over the sauce.
    • Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake
    • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Add Fresh Toppings
    • Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes.
    • Top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, olives, and green onions.
  7. Serve
    • Slice and serve with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole on the side.

Optional Add-Ins & Variations
