🧀 Cheesy Texas Toast (Homemade)

Ingredients
- 1 loaf thick-sliced Texas toast bread (or thick-cut white bread)
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced (or 1–2 tsp garlic powder)
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup shredded cheddar or parmesan (optional mix)
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped (optional)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
1. Make the garlic butter
In a small bowl, mix together:
- softened butter
- minced garlic (or garlic powder)
- pinch of salt
- parsley (optional)
2. Prepare the toast
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
- Spread a generous layer of garlic butter on each slice of bread.
3. Add the cheese
Top each slice with:
- a thick layer of mozzarella
- optional cheddar or parmesan for extra flavor
4. Bake
Place the tray in the oven and bake for 8–12 minutes, until:
- the cheese is melted and bubbly
- the edges are golden
For extra browning, switch to broil for 1 minute at the end.
5. Serve
Enjoy hot with:
- pasta
- soup
- steak
- or as an appetizer with marinara dipping sauce!
