Ginger Water (Simple & Healthy Recipe)
Ingredients
- 1–2 tablespoons fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced (or grated for stronger flavor)
- 4 cups (1 liter) water
- 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
- 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the ginger
- Rinse and peel the ginger root.
- Slice it thinly to maximize flavor extraction (or grate it for a more intense ginger infusion).
2. Boil
- Add the water and ginger slices to a pot.
- Bring to a gentle boil.
3. Simmer
- Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- For stronger ginger water, simmer up to 20 minutes.
4. Strain
- Remove from heat and strain out the ginger pieces.
5. Flavor (optional)
- Add lemon juice for brightness.
- Add honey if you’d like a natural sweetness (do this when the water is warm, not boiling).
6. Serve
- Drink warm, or chill and serve over ice.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 24–48 hours.
How to Use Ginger Water Safely
- Drink 1–2 cups per day.
- If you have conditions such as gallstones, reflux, bleeding disorders, or take blood-thinning medications, consult your doctor before consuming large amounts of ginger.
