🍪 Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients

  • 100 g butter (softened)
  • 175 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • A pinch of salt
  • A few drops of vanilla essence
  • 200 g all-purpose flour
  • 4 g baking powder
  • Optional but recommended: 2–3 tbsp cocoa powder or ½ cup chocolate chips

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until creamy and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg, vanilla essence, and salt. Mix well.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour and baking powder (and cocoa powder if using).
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  5. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
  6. If adding chocolate chips, fold them in now.

2. Shape the Cookies

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Scoop or roll small balls of dough and place them on the tray.
  4. Press gently to flatten slightly (they will spread while baking).

3. Bake

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are set but the center is still soft.
  • Cookies will firm up as they cool.

4. Cool & Enjoy

  • Let cookies rest on the tray for 5 minutes.
  • Move to a cooling rack and enjoy warm or cooled! 😍🍪

💡 Tips

  • For extra chocolatey cookies: add a handful of chocolate chips or chunks.
  • For chewier cookies: chill dough for 20 minutes before baking.
  • For crispier cookies: bake an extra 2–3 minutes.
