🍲 Hamburger and Potato Casserole —

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3–4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, diced (optional but recommended)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Optional: paprika or parsley for topping

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×9 or 9×13 baking dish.

2. Cook the Ground Beef

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef.
  2. Add salt, pepper, and onion (if using).
  3. Cook until browned, then drain excess fat.

3. Prepare the Sauce

In a bowl, mix together:

  • Cream of mushroom (or chicken) soup
  • Milk
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • A little more salt & pepper

Whisk until smooth.


4. Layer the Casserole

In the baking dish:

  1. Add a layer of thin potato slices.
  2. Spread half of the cooked beef on top.
  3. Pour half of the sauce over the beef.
  4. Repeat with:
    • another layer of potatoes
    • remaining beef
    • remaining sauce

Cover with foil.


5. Bake

  • Bake 1 hour covered.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle all the cheddar cheese on top, and bake for 20–25 more minutes until:
    ✔ potatoes are tender
    ✔ cheese is melted and bubbly

6. Serve

  • Let it rest 5 minutes before cutting.
  • Serve warm — cheesy, creamy, and hearty!
