🥢 Savory Beef & Crisp Bean Sprout Skillet Toss
A quick, sizzling stir-fry with juicy ground beef, crunchy bean sprouts, and aromatic ginger-garlic.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cups fresh bean sprouts
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
Optional (Highly Recommended)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp black or white pepper
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or Shaoxing wine
- 1–2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Chili flakes or 1 tsp chili paste (if you want heat)
Instructions
1. Cook the Beef
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart.
- Once browned, drain excess fat if needed.
- Season lightly with salt and pepper.
2. Add Aromatics
- Add the onion to the beef and cook 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and ginger; cook about 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Build the Sauce
- Add:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- (Optional) 1 tsp sesame oil
- (Optional) 1 tbsp rice vinegar or Shaoxing wine
- Stir well so the beef is evenly coated.
4. Add the Bean Sprouts
- Add the bean sprouts to the skillet.
- Toss on high heat for 1–2 minutes—just until they begin to soften but still stay crisp.
- Do not overcook; bean sprouts should remain crunchy.
5. Finish & Serve
- Taste and adjust seasoning (extra soy sauce or pepper).
- Remove from heat.
- Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
Serve with:
- Steamed white rice
- Fried rice
- Stir-fried noodles
- Or wrap in lettuce leaves for a low-carb option
Tips for Best Texture
- High heat = crisp bean sprouts and no sogginess.
- Don’t cover the pan (causes steaming).
- Add sprouts at the very end for maximum crunch.
