Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) Brussels sprouts, trimmed + halved
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • Salt + pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 1–2 tbsp honey, warmed (for drizzling)
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional garnish)
  • Wooden or metal skewers

🎄 Instructions

1. Prep the Brussels Sprouts

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Toss halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, maple syrup (or honey), salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

2. Roast Until Golden + Caramelized

  1. Spread sprouts cut-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Roast for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until browned and crispy on the edges.

3. Toast the Walnuts

While the sprouts roast, warm a small pan over medium heat.
Toast chopped walnuts for 2–3 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant. Set aside.

4. Assemble the Christmas Skewers

  1. Let sprouts cool slightly.
  2. Thread 3–4 sprouts onto each skewer (flat sides facing alternating directions for grip).
  3. Arrange on a serving platter.

5. Finish with Walnut Honey

  1. Warm 1–2 tbsp honey (microwave 5–10 seconds or gently heat on the stove).
  2. Drizzle over the skewers.
  3. Sprinkle toasted walnuts over top.
  4. Garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary for color and aroma.

💡 Tips & Variations

  • Extra caramelization: Add a second drizzle of honey halfway through roasting.
  • Spicy version: Add chili flakes to the honey before drizzling.
  • Nut-free: Replace walnuts with toasted pumpkin seeds.
  • Make ahead: Roast Brussels sprouts earlier in the day; reheat 5 minutes at 400°F (200°C) before assembling.
