Crispy Salmon Patties
Golden on the outside, tender inside—perfect for a quick meal or appetizer.
Ingredients
1 (14–15 oz) can salmon, drained
½ cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
1 large egg
¼ cup finely chopped onion
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp lemon juice
½ tsp salt (or to taste)
½ tsp black pepper
2–3 tbsp oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon
Drain the canned salmon well.
Remove skin and large bones if desired (small bones are edible and soft).
Flake salmon into a medium bowl. - Mix the Patty Base
Add to the bowl:
Breadcrumbs
Egg
Onion
Mayonnaise
Lemon juice
Salt and pepper
Mix gently until just combined.
(If mixture feels too wet, add 1–2 tbsp more breadcrumbs.) - Form the Patties
Shape mixture into 6–8 patties, about ½-inch thick.
Place on a plate and chill for 10 minutes if time allows (helps them hold together). - Fry the Patties
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Once oil is hot, add patties (do not overcrowd).
Cook 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serving Ideas
Serve with tartar sauce, garlic aioli, or lemon wedges
Great with coleslaw, salad, or on a bun like a salmon burger
Pair with rice or roasted vegetables for a full meal
Tips & Variations
Add 1 tbsp chopped parsley or dill for extra flavor 🌿
Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch
Add a pinch of paprika or cayenne for a spicy kick
Can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes, flipping once
