🧄🧀 Homemade Garlic Cheese Breadsticks
Soft, fluffy on the inside with a golden, cheesy, garlicky top—perfect for dipping or serving alongside pasta.
Ingredients
For the Dough
1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp olive oil
2½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
Garlic Butter Topping
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Cheese Topping
1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Make the Dough
In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast.
Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add olive oil, salt, and flour.
Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead on a floured surface 5–7 minutes until smooth.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour or until doubled. - Shape the Breadsticks
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Roll dough into a rectangle (about ½-inch thick).
Transfer to a greased baking sheet or parchment-lined pan. - Add Garlic & Cheese
Mix melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
Brush generously over dough.
Sprinkle mozzarella evenly on top.
Finish with Parmesan cheese. - Bake
Bake for 12–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and edges are golden. - Finish & Serve
Sprinkle with parsley.
Slice into breadsticks.
Serve warm with marinara, ranch, or garlic butter.
Tips & Variations
For extra softness, brush with melted butter right after baking.
Add red pepper flakes for heat 🌶️
Use pizza dough to save time.
Stuff cheese inside the dough for cheesy pull-apart sticks.
